The Gratitude Network held it’s first-ever “Soiree” on November 6, 2016 at the Sofitel Hotel in Redwood City, CA…and Entrepreneur Wines was there to help with th celebration! 325 guests enjoyed a grand reception, entered the Grand Ballroom to the music of Cantabile Women’s Choir, and then heard from several great speakers, enjoyed a wonderful dinner, participated in a live auction and honored social entrepreneurs around the world.

Speakers included Lauren Bush Lauren (Founder of The FEED Projects), Christian Okoye (star running back for the Kansas City Chiefs), Guy Kawasaki (early Apple Evangelist,entrepreneur and prolific blogger), Alejandro Gac-Artigas (Founder, Springboard Collaborative), and Tanyella Evans (Co-Founder of Library for All).

Best comment of the night: “Given the details of the event, it’s hard to believe this event is the FIRST time Gratitude Network has thrown one of these!“

Entrepreneur Wines – Come Join Us!

This version of Winter newsletter is going out to a few you that have expressed interest in Entrepreneur Wines and our “philanthropic” approach to social impact.

We’ve created a new website at https://staging.entrepreneurwines.com/ describing our approach for those of you new to the concept.

2016 will be a great year for Entrepreneur Wines and its sister organization, the Gratitude Network. This Spring, we’ll release our 2014 Widdoes Pinot Noir and 2013 Chardonnay. See an invitation below for our May 1st Barrel Tasting, and several more events.

We hope you’ll come to one or more of these events and/or share we’re doing via this newsletter with several friends. Our goal is to double the club this year and create even more excitement for our growing member base!

Special event with F50 on Thurs, March 10th @ the Palo Alto offices of Perkins Coie law firm

On March 10th, Entrepreneur Wines will team up with F50, a unique angel network that was established in the Silicon Valley. Perkins Coie has graciously agreed to host the event at their beautiful offices in Palo Alto.In addition to some great wine tasting, come learn about F50, about Gratitude’s progress with current Awardees, and about events coming up later this year.

Club members get in at a discounted price. If you bring two or more guests (who are potential future members), we’ll waive your fee altogether.

Sunday May 1st Our 2016 Barrel Tasting event…Come as Randy/Patty’s Guest…

This event will likely be (like last year) the highlight of the year, and everyone is looking forward to tasting what’s in the barrel!

This event is open to our Wine Club members only — however if you are receivign this newsletter directly from me, Patty and I would like you to come as OUR GUESTS.

Join us for our annual Napa Barrel Tasting Event, on Sunday, May 1st from 2:00-4:00 pm. We’ll be meeting at our production facility, 1111 Winery, at 620 Trancas Street, Napa – near downtown.

This event features the debut of our first pinot noir – the 2014 Widdoes Pinot Noir. The vines are located on the exclusive Widdoes Vineyardwhich is part of Dutton Ranch – a property know for producing grapes for several world-class wineries. This wine was 22 months in the barrel and produced some nice “Ahhhhh’s” and “Ohhhh’s” at last year’s barrel tasting event.

E-Wines New Website is Launched!

For those of you who haven’t had a chance to peruse our new website, we thought you might want to have a look. Click here to see it.

We think this new site does a much better job explaining who we are, what we’re accomplishing, how we’re a “philanthropic” winery, and more. Check out the videos on home page, as well as videos for each of our Wine makers on the “Team” page.

Good Choices

Each year The Gratitude Network chooses from a global pool of impact entrepreneurs and then applies a one-year “Mentorship” program to each of the winning companies. After making our selections these past 2 years, we were not surprised to learn that five of our Awardees — Christine Souffrant (Vendedy Inc.), Minaj Chowdhury (Drinkwell Inc.), Tanyella Evans (Library for All), Alejandro Gac-Artigas (Springboard Collaborative) and Jane Mitchell (The Reset Foundation) were all subsequently chosen by Forbes for their 30 Under 30!

We are really proud of these 5 entrepreneurs!

Overview: Jeff Fontanella, Wine Maker

Jeff has been working with Entrepreneur Wines on our Mount Veeder program since 2009. Jeff has a long history (for a young guy!) in the wine business, having held wine making roles at ZD, Opus One, and Saddleback – three wineries with stellar reputations in the wine world. Jeff and his wife Karen purchased their present winery, Fontanella Family Winery, in 2006 and have developed it into one of the leading wineries in the Mount Veeder appellation.

Patty and I were first introduced to Jeff by his neighbor, Karen Crouse. Many of our Entrepreneur Wines 2009 – 2013 cabernets have come from the Crouse’s 60-acre vineyard on Mt. Veeder, less than a mile from Fontanella Winery. Our cabernets for Mt. Veeder have all been crushed, stored and bottled at the Fontanella Facility. (see photo)

Not Yet A Member of the Entrepreneur Wines Club?

If you are not yet a member of Entrepreneur Wines, but this email has been forwarded to you, here’s a bit about how we operate:

1) Members receive two shipments per year (Spring and Fall) and opportunity to purchase additional wine at a discount. The amount of the discount depends upon what level you join the club at. We have 3 club levels:
– Ambassador: 4 bottles per shipment; a 10% discount on future wines
– Champion: 8 bottles per shipment; a 15% discount on future wines
– Patron: one case per shipment; a 20% discount on future wines
2) 25% of Membership fees become a tax-deductible donation to the Gratitude Network, supporting social entrepreneurs around the world.
3) We hold events throughout the year that you are invited to. For example, our Spring Barrel Tasting event in Napa and are Fall Release Party are members- (and their guests) only.
4) We hold events throughout the year in conjunction with other “entrepreneurial” entities in the Bay Area (such as the F50, and Churchill Club)

Singularity University Accelerator , Fall (Nov), 2015

E-List Members and their Guests gathered at Singularity University in Mountain View, CA for a taste of what is in store with this Fall release of our 2012 Mt. Veeder Reserve cabernet. Pascal Finette, Singularity U Accelerator Director, spoke about his program and shared perspective on the facility (in the heart of Moffet Field).

Fall Vineyard Trip, 2015 (with Kirk Venge)

The Haykins and Mike Miller took a trip with Kirk Venge to inspect the Fall production of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay Sonoma vineyards at Bacigalupi and Dutton Ranch. Fall in the rich vineyards of Sonoma was stunning!

Churchill Club, (April) 2015

Entrepreneur Wines co-hosted an event with the Churchill Club on April of 2015, which was attended by 150 Churchill Club members, and featured a panel discussion on Social Entrepreneurship. We led off the event with a toast to “giving back”, and featured Entrepreneur Wines 2011 Chardonnay as well as our 2010 Mt. Veeder Cabernet.

Napa Barrel Tasting, Spring (May) 2015

Kirk Venge led a tasting of 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon and 2014 Pinot Noir with over 60 members and guests in attendance. We also had two of our Gratitude Network entrepreneurs (Brian Hill from Endovo and Heather Franzese from Good World Solutions) to talk about their companies’ progress.

Entrepreneur Wines and Wente Vineyards teamed up for a presentation on “Giving Back” aimed at members of both wine clubs. Wente poured their “Art of Giving 2013” cabernet, and Entrepreneur Wines featured its 2010 Mt. Veeder Cabernet. Guests were treated to an afternoon in the Wente Barrel Room in Livermore, CA., complete with music, a spread of appetizers and lots of “networking”!

Intertwine Event SF, Fall (Sept), 2014

Entrepreneur Wines hosted its first “Intertwine” event in San Franciso and attendees were treated to our 2010 Mt. Veeder cabernet along with complimentary pours of Wente Riva Ranch chardonnay and appetizers. The event featured Matt Flanner, Founder of Kiva.org, who spoke about social entrepreneurship. The Wix Lounge hosted this event in downtown San Francisco near the AT&T Park.

The Haykin took the first of many-to-come trips to see the vineyards where future Entrepreneur Wines will be coming from. Kirk Venge shared his perspective and tour of the vineyards in Russian River for Baciagalupi (our future Chardonnays) and Dutton Ranch (our future Pinot Noirs).
